Lightning Strikes

First a loud sizzle, then a nearly blinding flash (if looking directly at it you will be blinded); finally a deafening subsonic rumble as air rushes back into the void created from an incredibly high voltage spark going from the surface to clouds. In this instance the rumbling lasted five to ten seconds and was reminiscent of my experiences living aboard a houseboat. I was always amazed how audibly dramatic the lightning strikes of less than 50 feet from your boat could be. I will long regret not getting some good DAT recordings of those. My live aboard days are past but the lightning strike this afternoon did rekindle a few memories.
It is now five to six hours later and although the cable co. says service has been restored our household has no internet. But we have an appointment scheduled for a technician to track down the problem. An appointment between 8:00 AM and noon and I must be over 18 years old (don't think there's a problem with that) and make sure our vicious 10.5 lb. ankle biter doesn't attack the guy. Now somewhere in there is quite a cartoon bubble: our shi tzu that thinks she is so adorable everyone loves her attacking the "cable guy". Yep, quite the cartoon bubble.
